random thoughts

I have an eclectic taste in music - my DH does not. He likes what he calls soulful music, such as Jesse Winchester, Steve Goodman, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc. So do I. I also like Barry Manilow (yes, I admit it), Billy Joel, most one-hit-wonders, John Coltrane, The Band, classical, country, reggae, some hip-hop, and more.

What does music say about a person? Anything? Is it wrong for me to be so diverse in my music tastes? I have played the piano for nearly 40 years, this is when I began having such a diverse love of music. My mother was from Germany so I had to learn to play the German folk songs. My piano teacher taught me to play the classicals of Clementi (my favorite), Bach, Beethoven, and more.

My husband didn't play an instrument, only DJ'd. Does that matter?

How does one acquire their love for certain types of music genres?
